Home » Dentinel Dual Marine (6–10 kVA/kW)
The Sentinel Dual Marine (SMU) is designed to power critical applications that require high reliability and continuity of power in marine, offshore and other demanding environments.
The range is available in 6 and 10 kVA/kW models, with a power factor of 1 and ON LINE double-conversion technology (VFI). The load is continuously supplied by the inverter with a sinusoidal output voltage, filtered and stabilised in terms of voltage, waveform and frequency.
The ability to install the system in either Tower or Rack configuration, combined with dedicated anti-vibration solutions, conformal coating of the electronic boards and multiple communication options, makes the Sentinel Dual Marine suitable for applications where electrical and electronic equipment is exposed to increased environmental and mechanical stress.
Up to three units can operate in parallel, either to increase the available power or in an N+1 redundant configuration, increasing the availability of critical loads.
The range has DNV Type Approval in accordance with DNV-CG-0339 for the specified installation configurations.
ACE Power Electronics – Official Riello UPS Distributor in Greece

The Sentinel Dual Marine has been designed and built to meet the specific requirements of marine, offshore and other demanding installations, where an interruption to the power supply may affect critical navigation, communication, automation and safety equipment.
For Tower installations, dedicated anti-vibration frames are available to reduce the transmission of continuous vibrations caused by engines, waves and vessel movement. In Rack applications, installation is carried out in suitable cabinets equipped with a vibration damping system.
The internal electronic printed circuit boards (PCBs) also undergo a conformal coating treatment, providing enhanced protection for electronic components in demanding operating conditions.
With the specified anti-vibration configurations, the system meets DNV-CG-0339 Class A vibration requirements.
The Sentinel Dual Marine can be installed either as a floor-standing Tower unit with the appropriate anti-vibration frame or in a Rack cabinet, providing installation flexibility according to the available space and system architecture.
The rotatable display enables easy operation in both configurations. A low noise level of less than 48 dBA in ECO Mode is achieved through a high-frequency switching inverter and a digitally controlled fan system that adjusts according to the load.
The UPS also supports an external maintenance bypass for maintenance operations without interruption to the power supply, while operation is guaranteed at ambient temperatures of up to 45 °C. The integrated IEC output sockets are equipped with thermal protection.
Operating modes can be programmed via software or selected from the front display of the UPS.
ON LINE: VFI double-conversion operation, with efficiency up to 95%.
ECO Mode: increases energy efficiency up to 98%, using VFD operation where permitted by the application requirements.
SMART ACTIVE: the UPS evaluates the quality of the mains supply and automatically selects between VFD and VFI operation.
STANDBY OFF: the UPS powers the load when the mains supply fails, for emergency applications.
Frequency Converter: operation as a 50 or 60 Hz frequency converter.
The Sentinel Dual Marine incorporates functions designed for effective battery management and utilisation.
The SMU 6000 LA PDIST DVA version is equipped with internal Long Life VRLA AGM batteries, while both automatic and manual battery tests are supported.
The Low Ripple Current Discharge (LCRD) system reduces the ripple current component, which can negatively affect battery performance.
In the version with internal batteries, battery replacement can be carried out without switching off the protected equipment and without interrupting the power supply to the load (Hot Swap).
The wide input voltage range and high hold-up time reduce unnecessary battery intervention during short power disturbances.
For interruptions lasting less than 20 ms, as well as when the input voltage remains within the specified range, the system can maintain power without using the batteries. For very short interruptions, energy is supplied by appropriately sized capacitors.
This function helps reduce unnecessary discharge cycles and supports more effective use of the battery system.
For applications requiring longer backup times, additional Battery Cabinets can be connected.
The range also includes ER versions without internal batteries and with a 6 A battery charger, designed for use with external battery systems and extended runtimes.
A Battery Cabinet with 15 × 9 Ah batteries is available for the 6 kVA model, while a Battery Cabinet with 20 × 9 Ah batteries is available for the 10 kVA model. Both solutions can be installed in Tower or 3U Rack configuration.
The dedicated emergency function supports systems that require continuous and reliable power in the event of a mains failure, such as emergency lighting, fire detection and extinguishing systems, and alarm systems.
In the event of a mains failure, the inverter powers the loads with a progressive start-up (Soft Start), reducing the risk of overload during start-up.
Programmable EnergyShare output sockets allow available runtime to be optimised through load priority management.
In the event of a power failure, lower-priority loads can be automatically disconnected so that the available battery energy is reserved for critical loads. Alternatively, specific emergency loads that remain inactive under normal mains conditions can be activated when required.
The Sentinel Dual Marine is equipped with USB and RS232 ports, as well as a slot for optional communication cards.
It supports PowerShield³ software for monitoring and safe shutdown of connected systems, together with additional Riello UPS communication and network monitoring solutions.
Operating status, measurements and alarms are also available through the integrated UPS display.
With an output power factor of 1, the rated apparent power in kVA corresponds to the actual active power in kW.
The 6 kVA model therefore provides up to 6 kW of active power, while the 10 kVA model provides up to 10 kW, allowing full utilisation of the UPS rated power.
The Sentinel Dual Marine complies with IEC EN 62040-1 for UPS safety, IEC EN 62040-2 for electromagnetic compatibility and IEC EN 62040-3 for performance requirements and test methods.
Its classification according to IEC 62040-3 is VFI-SS-111.
It has DNV Type Approval in accordance with DNV-CG-0339, Certificate No. TAE 00004YU. For vibration Class A, the specified anti-vibration configurations apply.
