Installation of seven Active Harmonic Filters in a Pharmaceutical Industry

A well-known pharmaceutical industry entrusted the company ACE Power Electronics, upgrading the electrical installation of its factory in Rodopi with an innovative energy solution. The company’s engineers first visited the facility to carry out measurements, in which they noticed the need to suppress harmonic distortions coming from industrial loads (such as LED lighting, coolers and air conditioning).

To deal with the effects of harmonic distortions, they proposed to the industry the advanced technology of Active Harmonic Suppression Filters from the Finnish company Merus Power.

Specifically, two Active Harmonic Filters with a power of 150 A each and five Active Harmonic Filters, each with a power of 100 A, were installed.

With this application, every need to improve the operation of industrial non-linear loads was covered and the results noted in the application were successful:

– Improvement in the quality of electricity

– Increase in energy efficiency

– Reduction of the deformation coefficient

– Power factor correction

– Correction of uneven current distribution

– Reduction of neutral conductor currents
